FTP, which denotes File Transfer Protocol, is the most famous means for uploading web files to a web hosting account. Using an FTP client that is pre-installed on your desktop or laptop computer, you can make a connection to your hosting server and copy all of the website files that you need with a couple of clicks of the mouse. This is done via a user-friendly graphical interface and it is as simple as dragging & dropping the aforementioned files. The advantage of using FTP is that you will be able to create different FTP accounts, each one with a different level of access to your online storage space, so if you want to provide a 3rd party with access, for example – a designer, they’ll be able to access only one particular directory and will not be able to see the remaining content or any other info, including personal details. Three must-haves are needed in order to be able to make an FTP connection – a hostname, which is usually a domain name or an IP, a username and a password.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting

Each of the shared hosting packages that we’re offering will permit you to create unlimited FTP accounts, so you’ll be able to manage the content of your Internet sites separately or to give other persons access to any site in your website hosting account. If you have a web design software app installed on your home computer, you’ll be able to maintain numerous Internet sites at the same time and to update them without any efforts. If you give the login information to another person to do a certain task, you’ll be able to update the password for that FTP account or to remove it entirely with only a couple of clicks and prevent any chance of unauthorized access to your website content in the future. For your convenience, all FTP accounts that you create will be displayed in alphabetical order in the corresponding section of your Hepsia Control Panel.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to set up a different FTP account for any of them, as we have not restricted this functionality with any of our packages. You can accomplish this via the FTP section of our easy-to-work-with Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also check the complete list of all the FTP accounts that you’ve created, together with the folder that each one can connect to. If necessary, you will be able to edit the password for a given account or to modify its access path with a couple of mouse clicks. You can also delete an account effortlessly if you don’t require it anymore – for example, if you have hired a web developer who is done with the website and you don’t want them to be able to access your website files any longer. For your convenience, we’ve prepared a number of tutorial videos, which will help you administer your FTP accounts without efforts in case you have never used a website hosting service previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS

None of the Linux VPS that we offer includes any limitation on the total number of FTP accounts that you can manage at any moment, so you can create an FTP account for any site hosted on your machine, irrespective of whether it’s under a domain or subdomain. It also does not matter which Control Panel you’ll pick when you subscribe – DirectAdmin, Hepsia or cPanel, as an FTP server will be set up on the virtual machine at the time of the configuration of any of them. If you want a number of people to establish a connection to one and the same folder with their own personal sign-in credentials, for instance, it’ll take several mouse clicks to create a separate FTP account for each one of them. Deleting an active account or changing the folder that it can access is just as easy and you won’t come across any impediment, even if you have no past experience in such matters.
